I hope the opportunity will be easily found, and that you will encounter a trustworthy person who can send the package safely and without expense from Bologna to Modena. But if I am mistaken, Your Reverence must let me know, so that another way can be found. I no longer remember how many books have been sold by Your Reverence. Please remind me again by letter and I shall meanwhile ascertain here if the money collected by Your Reverence will be duly delivered to this Signor Lelio dalla Volpe, who I believe to be in touch with Signor Manfrè 72 of Venice, whose property the books are. Next, the news I must give you is that I have hitherto received many, many objections, from different parts, concerning my book. I seek them avidly, and I am favoured here in Italy exactly as I wished and needed. I can therefore assure you that the Italian fire is, at this time, entirely spent, because all the opponents have acquiesced to my solutions. I await other objections from Paris, Germany and London, and in due time Your Reverence shall know the outcome of these as well. I have hitherto received no reply from Your Reverence, and in the letter received today from Padre Gabardi he informs me that he has not yet received the copies. I therefore beg Your Reverence again concerning this favour, and with ever greater concern; and I add that the money obtained for the copies sold must duly be given to this Signor Lelio della Volpe, informing him that it is the property of Signor Manfrè of Venice, to whom he should notify the receipt.
