I had forgotten about it and was reminded of it by your letter I received a few days ago, in which you notified me of the barrel of moscato . I have asked His Excellency to excuse you (as you are innocent) and I have told him about my fault of forgetfulness and my obligation to inform you immediately. I shall therefore do so and with his authority I forbid you from giving him any gift. Therefore, write it to him in the necessary letter of thanks for all such graces. Many effects of divine Providence have been seen in our house, but the love and protection of this cavaliere (as greater than any other effect) brings tears to my eyes and my heart; it is truly a bad thing that such men die like others because, given the sufficient and abundant experience I have of the world, I have without doubt not yet found a similar man, either here or elsewhere.
