301 LETTERS to which, I await your opinion, which I entreat you to send me immediately, because Monsieur Tartini will publish the above-mentioned work only after having understood your intention and after you have chosen the copies at your discretion. I add nothing on the excellence and the good taste of this work, it is sufficient to mention Monsieur Tartini and all is said. You shall no longer have any doubt regarding the sale of your copies because this work, besides being completely new, and this will be immediately evident, it has the feature of merging the most excellent taste with the refinement of the art and of encountering the universal taste. Consider my offer, and while I await a prompt and decisive answer, I convey to you my full esteem. P.S. Should you not purchase any of what I have just proposed to you, please at least have the kindness to suggest the purchase to some of your friends. Forgive me if I am sending you two letters with the same content, one addressed to the heirs, etc. and the other directly to you. I have done so because if one of them is lost, at least the other one may have the honour of arriving in your hands, it being quite urgent for me to conclude the deal. With regard to the proposal which you put to me regarding the work that the famous Monsieur Tartini has had printed, I would have the honour of telling you, Sir, that if it were a manuscript, I would accept it gladly, and I would offer Monsieur Tartini the same conditions that I offer the famous G. B. Martini from Bologna, Laurenti from the same city, and other famous Italian composers, that is to say to deliver to them, when the work is printed, two dozen copies, and to leave the dedication to them, but
