269 LETTERS 10. Tartini to G.B. Martini Padua, 2 November 1736 I have received a reply from Holland, and the printer grants all your conditions, because he finds them to be honest (his exact words). Your Reverence should therefore be kind enough to start corresponding with him, and he adds no further conditions to the transaction, excepting being in too much of a hurry, due to other works he has on his hands. Meanwhile, Your Reverence could send him one or two sonatas as a trial, as he indicates he would appreciate it if that could be done. His address is as follows To Monsieur Monsieur Michiel Charle Le Cène Sur le Bom Marc in Amsterdam and it would be better if you wrote to him in French, as he understands little Italian. Our Signor Don Antonio will have arrived there, or should arrive very shortly. Please be so kind as to purchase In Bologna a pair of green women’s silk stockings, of medium size, quite long and of good quality. Deliver them to Don Antonio, and get him to reimburse you for the expense. Remind him of the rosolio for my wife, namely that made by Sabadino Fioresi. I bought there, during my visit, some of that made by Zamboni, but he makes it too strong. It should be Polacchina rosolio, but sweet and light. Your Reverence need only remind Signor Don Antonio, as I have already talked to him here in person about this need. Please keep bestowing your love and your kindness upon me, while, as I convey to you my most devoted respects, I profess myself increasingly Your Reverences’ P.S. I have decided to enclose the present letter for Signor Don Antonio, to whom you should be kind enough to deliver it when he comes to Bologna. Your Reverence’s most devoted obliged and humble servant Giuseppe Tartini
